Think Bigger: Lessons from Sean Patton on the Cover-to-Cover Influence Podcast
Jan 17, 2025In the latest episode of Cover-to-Cover Influence, I spoke with Sean Patton, an author and executive leadership coach whose words leave you inspired and introspective (in all the best ways). Some conversations stick with you long after they’re over, and this is one of those.
Sean challenges us to think bigger—both in our personal growth and the impact we have on others. His approach is rooted in two powerful questions:
- Am I maximizing my own experience in this life?
- Am I maximizing my impact on others?
If your answer to either is “no,” then it’s time to dream bigger.
Answering a Wake-Up Call
Sean doesn’t mince words when it comes to gratitude, and he shares a reminder:
“If you’re listening to this podcast in America or Canada, my guess is you are in the top 1%—definitely the top 10%—of the most fortunate people on the planet. And I’m sure you’ve worked hard, but it has nothing to do with what you’ve done. It has everything to do with all the generations that have come before us that have created these conditions so that we have these freedoms and opportunities.”
With privilege comes responsibility. Sean believes that maximizing your potential and impact isn’t just a personal goal—it’s a moral obligation.
“To whom much is given, much is expected. Becoming the greatest version of yourself and maximizing your impact on others is an inherent responsibility because of the privilege we’ve been granted.”
His words challenge us to think beyond our day-to-day bubble and consider the ripple effects of our actions on the world around us.

Back to Thinking Bigger
Sean’s interview left me with one question to carry forward:
What would it look like to truly maximize my experiences and your impact on others?
Maybe you want to take a moment to reflect on that, too. Dream bigger. Then, take action.
